Windsurfing and Kiting - Pat Brososky
Windsurfing and kiting at South Padre Island is like having your favourite ice cream whenever you want it! Sailing conditions vary from smooth water in the lighter winds to choppy waves and big rollers in the high winds. The warm, shallow water is great for learning and improving your skills and even the most advanced sailors and kiters would be challenged by the northerlies that blow through. The long sandy beach has plenty of room for rigging with easy open access to the water. You won’t find a friendlier group of mates. The mild weather all winter brought me south and the windy days keep me coming back each year.

When my husband and I came to Brownsville in 2002, we didn’t know anyone or anything about the mobile home parks in the area. We knew we didn’t want to rent, but rather wanted to own wherever we settled. After checking out the parks that we felt would suit us, we chose Palm Resaca Mobile Home Park. One of the things that tweaked my interest about this park was their brochure which had a picture of their choir. I had always enjoyed singing, being a former Sweet Adeline, and was excited to think I could still enjoy that activity.
Upon moving into our chosen mobile two days before Thanksgiving, we were invited to the Thanksgiving Dinner available for all residents. It was amazing how friendly everyone was, and how “at home” we immediately felt! It wasn’t long before we had met several Midwestern couples with whom we formed instant friendships and the rest is history.
At this point, I have lived in this wonderful park going on 15 years. The friendships formed in those early days are still going strong, and though my husband has passed away, I wouldn’t trade my life here for anything. This park is safe (gated with security cameras around), very clean, cared for beautifully by a maintenance crew of four gentlemen who take great pride in their work, and there are so many activities that I can be as busy, or not, as I choose. I have been involved with the Recreation Club which is responsible for planning those activities, where I had the opportunity of serving on the Executive Committee and becoming President. Following that, I was elected to the Board of Directors for a term of 3 years, and then became Park Manager for 3 years.
Retired now, I am looking forward to more beach time with my friends, going to movies, and just enjoying my time here at Palm Resaca Park, as well as activities in Brownsville and the surrounding areas. With the diverse culture and affordable living here, I feel blessed to be able to enjoy concerts, theatrical productions, and many other venues that would cost a fortune elsewhere. I’m so glad that I live here!!

weather, card groups, Dianne's writing group, the Musical
Group, water aerobics, the Rec Group, and the office staff.
Lots of things to do. Glad the palm trees were accepted by
the people.

Watch out for rambling golf carts, so you don't skin your knees.
